A heat pump hot water system works a bit like a fridge in reverse. A small compressor pulls warmth out of the outside air and moves it into the water in the tank, so it uses a fraction of the electricity a standard electric element does. What a heat pump install involves

Swapping a hot water system isn't just unplugging one tank and plugging in the next. A proper heat pump install covers the bits you don't see as well as the bits you do:

• Safe disconnection and removal of your old unit, and we take it away with us
• Water connections done by licensed plumbers, with new tempering and relief valves fitted and set
• A level pad or base and proper drainage for the condensate the heat pump makes
• Clearances and airflow checked, because a heat pump needs room to breathe
• Licensed electricians arranged by us where your power supply needs work
• The system commissioned and tested before we leave, and the timer set to suit your household

A straight swap usually takes around three hours. A conversion from gas, a relocation or a job that needs electrical work can take up to a full day. We'll tell you which one you're looking at when we quote.

Is a heat pump right for your home?

Heat pumps suit most Perth homes, but not every one. They need a spot outside with decent airflow, they make a low hum while running, and they cost more upfront than a basic electric tank.
